Emmett Ientilucci - Drums
homepage
Years Playing:
20 years
Favorite
Drumset:
1961 Ludwig Leedy's and my Yamaha Maple Customs.
Artists to
Listen to for Inspiration:
Vinnie Colaiuta takes the cake. But I also like Dave Weckl, Phil Gould
(level 42), Dennis Chambers, Steve Smith, Steve Gadd, and David Garabaldi.
People/Bands
Played With:
Heritage, Top Secret, Paradigm Shift, Terrance Bruce, and some regional
big bands.
Claim to
Fame:
Got to set up drums for Dave Weckl and Steve Smith at a Zildjan day
show in New York City. Chuck Morris (drummer for the Arsenio Hall show)
got me in posing as his cousin. Played on demo for Denny Braun (sax
w/ Ike Turner).
Approach
to the Music:
Chops first, groove later. I'm kidding. Just the opposite. Groove makes
the tune.
Comments
on the Me & the Boyz Gig:
Learn to play 75% of the night to a click track. I think this little
device tends to separate the men from the boyz.
Comments
in General:
Less is more. Space is SO important. Many drummers fail to understand
this concept. Playing with a competent bass player also helps.
